Inspiration

I began writing poetry while in a state of deep emotional pain, and it was through poetic expression that I began to experience the healing of my deepest emotional wounds. When I added the ancient, sacred practice of African drumming, my poetry came to life! I coined the term Drumetry™ to describe this art form.

What is Drumetry™

​At its core, Drumetry is the seamless integration of drumming and poetry, two lifelong passions woven into one expressive form. It is medicinal music on a mission: the music is the medicine, and its mission is to heal.
Born from a deep need for freedom, Drumetry, mirrors the arc of the Hero's Journey: to move through pain, be transformed by it, and return with the gifts and wisdom to share. Every Rhythm, every word carries intention, offering restoration, reflection, and release.
